Equipment storage container FAQ
Are your containers secure and weatherproof against Michigan winters?
Yes. Every single unit at Steel Tough Containers is guaranteed wind- and watertight to keep your tools, inventory, or furniture completely safe from rain, heavy snow, and pests. Our containers also feature secure, lock-ready doors and heavy-duty lockboxes to prevent tampering and trespassing on active jobsites or retail lots.
Do you offer long-term commercial container leasing or custom modifications?
We provide flexible month-to-month rental terms for quick projects, as well as permanent container sales and custom modifications. Our build-to-order fit-outs can include custom personnel doors, roll-up windows, insulation, electrical wiring/lighting, shelving racks, and custom exterior paint to match your business branding.
What are the delivery requirements?
For delivery, we need a flat, clear space with enough clearance for our tilt-bed trucks (typically 60 feet of straight clearance for a 20ft container and 100 feet for a 40ft container).
How fast can you deliver?
Most deliveries are scheduled within a few business days, depending on location and container size. Ask if you have a hard deadline.
What ground do I need?
Level, compacted gravel, asphalt, or concrete works best. Soft soil can cause settling; blocks or ties improve drainage and access.
What sizes of storage containers do you rent?
We offer 10-foot, 20-foot, and 40-foot wind- and watertight steel containers.
Can I add shelves or power?
Yes. We offer shelving, lighting, and basic power options. We’ll advise the safest, code‑aware setup for your use.
Do I need permits?
Most temporary placements don’t, but some municipalities require a permit. Check local requirements if you’re inside city limits.
Will a 20‑foot be big enough?
For small crews and hand tools, yes. If you’re staging pallets or tall equipment, consider a 40‑foot or a high‑cube for headroom.
How secure are the doors?
Doors are heavy steel with tamper‑resistant lock boxes. Add a cross‑bar lock for maximum deterrence.
Can you place on asphalt?
Yes. We recommend wood blocks to protect the surface and promote drainage.
Do you offer long‑term discounts?
Yes. Multi‑month and multi‑unit rentals qualify for discounted rates. Ask for a custom quote.
Where do you deliver?
Steel Tough Containers provides statewide delivery across Michigan, including major hubs like Lansing, Grand Rapids, Detroit, and Ann Arbor.
How are shipping container delivery fees calculated?
